Inside the box

How we pack
your order.

Every perishable order is packed by hand in our Oceanside store. Here is what happens before it leaves.

We pick and check

Your items are gathered from the store shelves and fridges, checked against the order and grouped by temperature: ambient, chilled and frozen are kept apart from the start.

We prepare the thermobox

Perishables travel in an insulated cooler inside a sturdy outer box. The box size is matched to the order so the cold stays where it should and nothing shifts in transit.

We add the cold: gel packs or dry ice

Chilled items get frozen gel packs. Frozen items get dry ice, sized for the distance and transit time. The box is sealed and labeled, so it is handled correctly on the way.

We hand it to the carrier

Local NYC and Nassau orders go out with our own delivery. Nationwide orders are handed to the carrier the same day they are packed, with perishables shipped Monday to Wednesday so they never wait over a weekend.

Do you deliver to Hawaii?

Yes. From April through October, Hawaii orders containing perishables require FedEx Standard Overnight®. Shipping is charged at checkout; Hawaii is outside the free ground-shipping area.

How are perishable foods packed?

We use insulated coolers with gel packs and, where needed, dry ice. Refrigerate or freeze perishables within two hours of delivery.

When will my order ship?

In-stock orders generally take 1–2 business days to prepare, before transit. April–October perishable shipments leave Monday–Wednesday; peak periods can take longer. See our Shipping & Delivery policy.

Is local NYC delivery free?

Local delivery covers NYC’s five boroughs and Nassau County: $15, or free with a $99+ subtotal after discounts, before taxes and fees. Order by 2 p.m. ET for same-day delivery; later orders arrive the next day.
